The Central Mass Regional 911 District serves as the designated Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for all 911 calls within its member communities. Trained telecommunicators handle wireless, wireline, and VoIP emergency calls, ensuring prompt and accurate information gathering. Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certified staff provide critical, life-saving instructions over the phone while emergency responders are en-route.
The District is responsible for dispatching Police, Fire, and EMS units across multiple municipalities. Dispatchers coordinate emergency response efforts and ensure mutual aid is deployed when needed. All dispatching is conducted using up-to-date response protocols and pre-planned run cards to ensure speed, accuracy, and interagency coordination during critical incidents.
CMR 911 manages and supports a district-wide radio communications network, designed to ensure clear and dependable communication for all first responders. The system includes multiple towers, simulcast capabilities, and interoperable channels to enhance coordination across town borders. The District also oversees critical software systems such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and integrates police and fire records systems for streamlined operations.
The District is committed to public education, offering 911 training and awareness programs to local schools, senior centers, and at-risk populations. Utilizing advanced tools like the Hero 911EDU+ system, these programs simulate real emergency calls and texts to teach the proper use of 911. Outreach events, such as Trunk-or-Treat, further connect the community with emergency services in an engaging, informative way.
As a growing regional dispatch district, CMR 911 works closely with local public safety officials to strengthen cooperation and expand services. By consolidating operations, the District reduces costs, improves service delivery, and increases access to state and federal funding. It actively engages with prospective communities to support regionalization efforts and enhance emergency communications across Central Massachusetts.
